Area Obituaries

Mrs. Lucy Nolan, furneral services were held in Palo Alto, Calif., her former home for Mrs. Lucy Nolan. Mrs. Nolan, a resident of the Struble vicinity for many years, died in San Diego, May 11.

She was the mother of Mrs. Joe Arens, former Alton resident. She moved to Palo Alto in 1940 and during the war worked in the Dibble Government hospital. Following the war she established a rest home in Palo Alto from which she retired 2 1/2 years ago.

At Christmas time in 1968 she went to San Diego to visit her daughters and while there suffered a heart attack and was never able to return to her home in Palo Alto, Calif.

Mrs. Nolan's father settled in Jackson, Neb., in 1855. After her marriage she moved to Struble, IA., where the couple farmed for many years.

She was 84 years and five months of age when she passed away.

Five children survive; Richard, Fremont, Calif.; Mrs. Joe (Gertrude) Arens, Palo Alto; Mrs. Lyle Adney (Margaret), San Diego, Ca; Bernard Nolan, Perry, Ia.; and Mrs. George Popyack (Joan), San Diego, Ca.
