GEORGE KRESS DIES IN HOTEL

George Martin Kress, 78, retired farmer formerly of LeMars and Merrill died Thursday, Jan. 25, in the Martin Hotel in Sioux City.

Funeral services where held in the Mauer Funeral Home Sunday, Jan. 28, with the Rev. Staube officiating. Burial was in the LeMars City Cemetery.

Mr. Kress was born May 28, 1872, in Buchannan county to Martin and Mary Brandstetter Kress.

He farmed from 1889 to 1927 when he retired to LeMars. October 24, 1895, he married in Turner County, S.D. and in 1941 he moved to Merrill.

Two years later he moved to Sioux City where he spent the remainder of his life.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Henrietta, his parents, two brothers and a sister.

Surviving are a son, Clifford Kress, of Merrill; a daughter, Mrs. E.W. Holsapfel of Liberty, Mo.; a grandson and a step-grandson.
