Luella Josephine (Wetrosky) Jahn of Inchelium passed away July 27, 2009. She was born April 6, 1920 to Joseph and Mary (Munsch) Wetrosky at their home near Kingsley, Iowa. She graduated from Sioux City in 1939 and married Carl Albert Jahn, January 14, 1940 in Kingsley. In Dec. 1958, Luella and Carl took their children along with her brother John and headed across the country from Aurelia, Iowa to Sunnyside, Washington in hopes that their family could have a better life. Luella and Carl lived there until their children graduated from high school. They retired and moved to Moses Lake where Luella was able to fulfill her passion for fishing - both winter and summer. About 1980, they moved into their cabin by Twin Lakes. Luella lived there with her husband - where she enjoyed fishing and hunting, and a daily Bingo game - as long as she could.
Luella was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and enjoyed fishing with her grandchildren. She loved to spoil them with roasted hotdogs and marshmallows every chance she could, and always had M&M's waiting before they went to bed. In the last few years, her little dog, Tiny, brought her much joy.
Luella loved going to church at St. Michaels every Sunday that she could, as well as the Inchelium Meal Site where she made many friends. She enjoyed going to watch and listen to the old time fiddlers that played in the area.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 10 siblings, her oldest son Gayle who died in infancy, her oldest daughter Janice, her son-in-law Roger Conant and one grandchild.
She is survived by her husband Carl, daughter Janet Schreiber and husband Richard of Moses Lake, daughter Betty Conant of Chelan, son Carl J. Jahn of Sunnyside and daughter Bonnie Mares and husband Lionel of Mabton, seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Loretta Porsch of Sioux City, Iowa, her God Daughter, Kay Wimmer of Kingsley, and many nieces and nephews around the country.
The Rosary for Luella Jahn was held at 7 p.m., Monday, August 3 at the St. Michael's Mission in Inchelium. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, August 4 at the St. Michael's Mission. The burial will follow at the Hall Creek Cemetery in Inchelium. The Danekas Funeral Chapel and Crematory in Colville was in charge of arrangements.
