LE MARS, Iowa -- Barry Dean Vollink, 31, of Omaha, formerly of Le Mars, died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2002, at Methodist Hospital in Omaha.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at West Center Road Chapel in Omaha. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Memorial Cemetery, Le Mars. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at West Center Road Chapel. Le Mars arrangements are under the direction of Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home.
Barry was born Oct. 1, 1971, in Le Mars, the son of Fred and Glenda (Kempema) Vollink. He attended Le Mars Community Schools and graduated from Le Mars Community High School in 1991. He attended Northwest Missouri State College in Maryville, Mo.
He married Sharon Medlin on Oct. 25, 1997, at Peter Kiewit Lodge in Mahoney State Park, Ashland, Neb. He was employed with Well's Dairy in Omaha.
He was a member of Calvin Christian Reformed Church in Le Mars and later became a member of Westside Church of Omaha. His greatest joy came from being a husband and father. He loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed many sport activities, especially football. He also enjoyed listening to Christian contemporary music.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon; a son, Calvin; his parents, Fred and Glenda; a sister and her husband, Holly and Andrew Lent of New York City; and maternal grandparents, Herman and Henrietta Kempema of Rock Valley, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Fred and Hattie Vollink of Hull, Iowa.
Pallbearers will be Trent Groetken, Scott Medlin, Troy Vollink, Joe Vollink, Kelly Blankspoor and Scott Kempema.
Memorials may be directed to the Calvin Vollink Educational Fund.
