REMSEN, Iowa -- Loretta Vaske, 62, of Sioux City, formerly of Remsen, died Monday, May 20, 2002, at her residence.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen, with the Rev. Thomas J. Hart officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a parish rosary at 3 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen.

Miss Vaske was born Nov. 9, 1939, in rural Remsen, the daughter of Aloysius and Josephine (Stodden) Vaske. She was raised in the Remsen area and received her education at St. Mary's Catholic School, graduating in 1958. She then entered Dubuque Franciscan Convent in Dubuque, Iowa, where she remained for a number of years doing domestic work.

She then moved to the Sioux City area, where she was employed at various jobs and for approximately the last 20 years at Interbake Foods Inc. in Sioux City.

Survivors include seven sisters, Sister Florence Vaske, O.S.F. of Remsen, Marian and her husband, Gordon Holzman, of Alton, Iowa, Alvira Schwarz of Marcus, Iowa, Rita Williams of Sioux City, Theresa and her husband, Robert Reuter, of Le Mars, Iowa, Sister Phyllis Vaske O.S.F. of Tulsa, Okla., and Sister Rosemary Vaske O.S.F. of Marshalltown, Iowa; a brother and his wife, Al and Susie Vaske Jr. of Remsen; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Walter and Vincent, both in infancy; a sister and her husband, Lucille and Victor Zenk; and two brothers-in-law, Marvin Schwarz and Darrell Williams.

Pallbearers will be Gary and Kevin Holzman, Jerry Reuter, Mike Schwarz, Andy Vaske and Fred Zenk.
