MRS. J. SAMPSON

Mrs. J. H. (Edith Jane) Sampson, 82, passed away at her home at 620 2nd Ave. SE in LeMars on February 11, after a lingering illness.

Edith Jane LeVitte was born December 18, 1876, at Gratiot, Wisconsin. She came to Plymouth County 42 years ago and Mr. and Mrs. Sampson retired to LeMars five years ago. They observed their 56th wedding anniversary last October.

Edith LeVitte and John Henry Sampson were married October 16, 1902, at Shullsburg, Wisconsin. They farmed several years in the LeMars area before retiring.

Funeral services will be held February 13, 1959, at 2 p.m. at the First Methodist church in LeMars with the Rev. R.V. Gildner officiating. Burial will be in the LeMars city cemetery under the direction of the Mauer funeral home.

Survivors include her husband, Henry; eight children, L.M. Sampson of Aurelia, Delores Heeren, Dallas, Texas, Mrs. Elmer (Irene) Fischer of Cherokee, Mrs. Art (Maxine) Farmer of LeMars, Lester Sampson at home, Harold Sampson of Aurelia, Mrs. Bud (Jeanette) Fulton of LeMars, Mrs. Stanley (Lola) Thompson of Kingsley. They are 24 surviving grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren. One sister, Mrs. Zilla Evans of Shullsburg, Wisconsin survives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, a sister, and a grandchild.
