COLLINS FUNERAL HELD MONDAY

Wayne Oliver Collins, 43, part-owner of the Gus Pech Foundry in LeMars and father of 11 children, died at 5:40 o’clock Friday morning at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Dodge of injuries suffered in a truck crash at 6 p.m. Thursday, August 27, 1957, near Pomeroy, Ia.

Mr. Collins, son of the late W.O. Collins, wealthy LeMars foundry man, was driving his truck to Des Moines for some pipe when the vehicle missed a curve and rolled over several times at the junction of hiways 5 and 17.

His children range in age from 5 to 22.

He was one of the three Iowa persons who died as the result of accident injuries Friday, according to the Associated Press.

Mr. Collins was born September 15, 1913, in LeMars, and had lived his entire life in this community. He married Faye Nash November 19, 1933, at Elk Point, S.D.

Mr. Collins owned the foundry in partnership with his brother Robert A. Collins. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, the LeMars Chamber of Commerce, and the Eagles and Elk lodges.

Survivors include the widow; seven daughters, Mrs. Mary Gay McClatchy and Mrs. Nancy Rolfes, of LeMars, Miss Kay Collins of Elkhorn, Ia., and Sue, Kathleeen, Jill and Priscilla, all at home; four sons, Carey of LeMars, Ted, Tim and Jack, all at home; his mother, Mrs. W.O. Collins of LeMars; a sister, Mrs. Clem Karl of LeMars, his brother; two stepbrothers, Maynard and Harold of Long Beach, Cal., and three grandchildren.

Funeral services were at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist church here with Rev. Alvern Kinrade officiating. Burial was in the LeMars City Cemetery under the direction of the Mauer funeral home.
