Eugene C. Ball, 69, of Branson, Mo., died Thursday, Nov. 11, 2004, at a local hospital.

Eugene Ball was born June 23, 1935, in Sioux County, the son of Ewald and Florence (Yates) Ball. Gene was raised and attended school in Plymouth County.

He graduated from Marcus High School in 1956. He served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1959 during the Korean War and left with an honorable discharge.

Eugene and Mary Davis were united in marriage on June 17, 1972, in Sergeant Bluff, where he was employed at the brickyards for several years. The couple moved to Grand Junction, Colo., for a year, and due to ill health, Gene retired with Mary and their daughter, Amber, in Branson, Mo. They lived there for 17 years. His wife, Mary, died suddenly at their home on Aug. 30, 2004.

Survivors include his daughter, Amber, residing at Beverly Care Center in Branson, Mo.; a sister, Blanche Ball Cronin of Le Mars; a brother, Clarence and his wife, Johnnie Ball, of Boone; five nieces and one nephew; and his wife's parents, Leo and Barb Davis of Branson.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mary; his parents, and a brother-in-law, Leo Davis.

Hhis body was cremated, with Greenlawn Funeral Home of Branson, Mo., in charge of arrangements.
