Gerald D. Plueger, 66, of Weldon, Calif., went to be with his Lord on April 16, 2009 in California.

Gerald Dean Plueger was born Dec. 13, 1942, at Akron, the son of Charlie and Lucille (Jeffers) Plueger. He graduated from Le Mars Central High School with the Class of 1961. Following high school, Gerald attended National Business Training in Sioux City. He served his country in the United States Navy from Oct. 4, 1962 until his honorable discharge Sept. 23, 1966. While in the Navy, Gerald maintained payroll records for 825 people at the Great Lakes Naval Hospital, near Chicago, Ill.

After his discharge, Gerald went to work for Zenith Electronics in Sioux City. He later worked for Richards Insurance Agency in Colorado Springs, Colo. Gerald moved to California where he worked for Technibuilt in Burbank and later for Grant Products of Glendale.

Gerald enjoyed golfing and attending Major League Baseball games. In California, Gerald lived in close proximity to the LA Dodgers, Anaheim Angels and also enjoyed the Sport of Kings, horseracing.

Gerald also took a keen interest in computer programming software, being self taught.

Gerald is survived by his two sisters, Peggy Wilken of Brunsville and Janice Smith and her husband Tom of Weldon, Calif.; two brothers, Larry Plueger and his wife Betty of Le Mars and Dale Plueger of Glendale, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Lucille (Jeffers) Plueger; a brother-in-law, Elmer Wilken; and a grand-niece, Christine Wilken.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 16, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Brunsville, with the Rev. Jerry Crow officiating. Interment with military honors provided by the Heeren-McHale-Wilken American Legion Post #724 of Brunsville will be at St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Carlsen Funeral Home of Le Mars.

Since Gerald's death was hastened by a rapid deterioration due to Parkinson's Disease/Dementia, memorials can be directed to The American Parkinson's Disease Association, 1250 Hyland Blvd., Suite 4B, Staten Island, New York, 10305.
