Robert "Bob" Pratt, 79, of Le Mars, died Sunday, March 4, 2007, at his home in Le Mars.

Robert John Pratt was born Aug. 25, 1927, on the family farm in Elkhorn Township, near Kingsley, the son of George Arthur and Mary Agnes (Conley) Pratt. Bob graduated from Union Consolidated High School in 1946 and farmed in the Kingsley area following school. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1951 to 1953. During the war he served 11 months in an infantry division in Korea.

Bob was united in marriage to Patricia McFarland on March 29, 1953, at the First United Methodist Church in Le Mars. Bob and Patricia farmed in the Kingsley and Quimby area until moving to Le Mars in 1964. Bob had worked for Simonsen Fertilizer in Quimby until 1977. In 1977, Bob and his son, Allen started R & A Fertilizer in Le Mars. Bob continued to be involved with the business until he suffered a stroke in March 2006.

Through the years Bob and Pat enjoyed wintering at South Padre Island, Texas. He also enjoyed camping, especially in the Black Hills. Bob enjoyed visiting with people and had a talent for telling corny jokes. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

Bob felt strongly about his country and had a close relationship with his Lord. He was a very kind and gentle man.

Bob was a member of the United Methodist Church of Le Mars, Wasmer American Legion Post #241, and the Korean War Last Man's Club.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Patricia of Le Mars; a son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Sharon Pratt of Le Mars; two granddaughters, Alison Pratt of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Laura Pratt of Waterloo; five brothers, Donald Pratt of Pierson, Lyle Pratt and his wife Marion of Washta, Clarence Pratt and his wife Dorthy of Aurelia, Orlin Pratt and his wife Ellen of Remsen, and Richard Pratt and his wife Donna of Le Mars; a sister, Dorothy Rainboth of Marcus; and many nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, George Arthur and Mary Agnes (Conley) Pratt; a daughter, Beth Hodgson in 1974; a brother, Wyndom Pratt; and two sisters, Erma Plendl and Iona Sudtelgte.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church of Le Mars with the Rev. Mike Janes officiating. Interment with military honors provided by the Wasmer American Legion Post #241 of Le Mars will be in the Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today (Monday) at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars with the family present to greet friends after 6 p.m. followed by a 7 p.m. payer service. Visitations will continue at the church Tuesday morning from 9:30 a.m. until service time.

Pallbearers will be Terry Pratt, Kevin Pratt, Clark Rainboth, Steve Pratt, Matt Lehman, and Steve Bohnenkamp.
