David Peck, 50, of Joplin, Mo., formerly of Sioux City, died Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004, at St. John's Regional Medical Center in Joplin of an aneurysm, with his family and friends at his bedside.

Services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Carlsen Funeral Home, Schroeder Chapel in Akron, Iowa, with the Rev. Michael Ring of Glad Tidings Lighthouse Church officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

David Bert Peck was born Dec. 7, 1953, in Sioux City, to Robert and Joyce (Molzen) Peck. He was raised in the Riverside area of Sioux City and graduated from Riverside High School. As a young man, David began a long career as an exterminator. He worked for Presto-X Company in Sioux City for many years. In the mid 1990s, David moved to Joplin, Mo., where he also worked as an exterminator. For the last few years, he worked for Schendel Pest Control in Joplin.

David was a very kindhearted man, one who was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was a special handyman in caring for his mother. David enjoyed the time spent with his children and family. He enjoyed keeping in contact with family and many friends throughout the country. Oftentimes he could be found in the evenings on the porch with his feet up talking on the telephone. He also enjoyed the time spent fishing and boating.

Survivors include his wife, Flower Peck of Joplin; his children, Deserae Peck of Phoenix, Ariz., Derek Peck of Sioux City, Cassondra Peck of Sioux City, Gabriela Peck of Joplin and Steven Peck of Joplin; his mother, Joyce Peck of Joplin; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Sherry and her husband, Randy Reed, of Pocatello, Idaho, and Amy and her husband, Rod Solomon, of Westfield, Iowa; a brother and sister-in-law, Tim and Norma Peck of Joplin; several nieces and nephews; his very close friend, Bobby Wickliffe, of Oklahoma; and his faithful dog, Izzi.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Peck.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Wickliffe, Travis Reed, Shawn Reed, Jason Solomon, John Peck and Mike Lewis.
