REMSEN, Iowa -- Dennis Niehus, 54, of Remsen died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, at Pikes Peak Hospice in Colorado Springs, Colo., following a brief illness.

Services will be 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen, with the Rev. Timothy Johnson officiating. Burial will be at a later date in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Sunday, with a parish rosary at 3 p.m., at the funeral home.

Dennis was born Jan. 28, 1950, in Le Mars, Iowa, the son of Edmund and Beatrice (Hagen) Niehus. He was raised in the Remsen area and received his education at St. Mary's Catholic School in Remsen, graduating in 1968. He then attended Iowa State University, graduating with a business degree in 1972.

He was self-employed in promotional advertising in Iowa for television and radio. He had promoted the television program on hunting and fishing called "Outdoor Encounters."

Survivors include a son and his wife, Nathan and Candice Albrecht of Salem, Ore.; a granddaughter, Elsie Albrecht of Salem; two brothers, Larry and his wife, Jana of Sergeant Bluff, and Paul of Colorado Springs; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Rosemary Marie.
