LE MARS, Iowa -- Donald E. Waring., 92, of Le Mars passed away Thursday, April 3, 2003, at his residence.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Grace Lutheran Church (LC-MS) in Le Mars, with the Rev. Larry Fett officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery, LeMars. Visitation will begin 2 p.m. Monday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church.

Donald Edward Waring was born October 29, 1910, on a farm near Norwich, Ontario, Canada, the son of William and Mary Emma (Brearly) Waring. He attended primary school and business college in Canada. Don immigrated to the United States in 1930. He found work as a farmhand and a truck driver.

On Oct. 12, 1935, Don and Lucile Beck were united in marriage at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Hinton, Iowa. In 1938 the couple began farming in Stanton Township, Plymouth County, Iowa. Don received his citizenship in 1940. Don and Lucile farmed near Hinton until retiring in 1978. They moved to LeMars to spend their retirement years. They enjoyed traveling and fishing together. Lucile passed away on June 23, 1992.

Don was a charter member of Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars. Throughout the years, he held many offices including president, elder and treasurer.

He will be lovingly remembered by his son, Donald P. Waring and his wife, Linda, of Hinton; two daughters, Karen Kelly and her husband, Tom, of Fair Hope, Ala. and Maureen Cabral and her husband, Bob, of Valley Ford, Wash.; three grandchildren, William Waring, Patricia Waring-Harvey and Jason Cabral; seven great-grandchildren, Colton, Zane, Talon and Meysa Waring, Brooke and Kayla Harvey and Zachary Cabral; and a special cousin, Deborah Haight of Norwich, Ontario, Canada.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lucile; a brother and sister-in-law, Harold and his wife, Evelyn.
