Warren G. (Popeye) Hardacre, 70, of Le Mars, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 1993, at The Abbey in Le Mars.

Mr. Hardacre was born May 7, 1923, at Boyden, the son of James G. and Lauren (Steffen) Hardacre.

He graduated from Le Mars High School. He worked most of his life for Nemmers Construction and Plueger Construction. He was a member of Wasmer Post 241 of the American Legion and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, aerie 1381. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U. S. Army from 1942 to 1947.

Survivors include two sisters, Esther Rickabaugh and her husband, Jack, of Minnetonka, Minn., and Josephine Small and her husband, Eldon, of Akron; a brother, Joseph Hardacre and his wife, Edna, of Le Mars, and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, James; and two sisters, Blanche Marrow and Frances Oxberger.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home, Le Mars, with Susan Miller, Hospice chaplain, officiating. Burial will be in Le Mars Memorial Cemetery with military rites by the American Legion. Visitation is after 2 p.m. Sunday with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
