Billy Park Lamb, 60, Alexandria, Va., a former Le Mars resident, manager of Services to Armed Forces for the American Red Cross and a combat veteran of World War II, died Jan. 5, 1982, at his home in Alexandria. He had a chronic respiratory ailment.
His wife is the former Ruby Null of Le Mars.
The following obituary was published in the Washington Post:
After joining the Red Cross in 1954, Mr. Lamb directed the organization’s operations in Korea. He later held Red Cross posts in this country and in Japan and West Germany. In the mid-1960s, he served in Saigon as director of Red Cross operations in Vietnam.
In 1971, he moved to the Washington area as manager of the national organization’s Services to Armed Forces division in Alexandria.
Mr. Lamb, who was born in Keokuk, Iowa, served in the army infantry in Europe in World War II. He received three purple heart medals. In 1958, he retired from the army reserve with the rank of captain.
Before joining the Red Cross, Mr. Lamb operated a feed business in Le Mars.
He was a member of the Masons.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby M. of Alexandria; three sons, William E. of Raleigh, N.C., Clarles G. of Birmingham, Ala., and Robert J. of Arlington, and a grandson.
