Leslie H. Smith, 75, Le Mars, died Sunday (July 22, 1984) at Indian Hills Care Center, Sioux City, after an extended illness.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars with Rev. Merle Den Bleyker officiating. Burial will be in Le Mars Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Smith was born March 22, 1909, at Sharon Center to Robert Henry and Rosa Bell (Ruckle) Smith. He moved to Le Mars as a child. In 1934 he moved to Santa Monica, Calif., and left there when he joined the U.S. Army. He moved back to Le Mars after military service. He was an auto mechanic for Bob Harley Ford, Le Mars, in the 1930s.

He was a member of Wasmer Post American Legion 241.

Survivors are three brothers, Everett of Mobile, Ala., Robert of Minot, N.D., and Walton of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Roy (Marguerite) Van Leeuwen, Yuba City, Calif., and Mrs. Bert (Ethel) Stellingwerf, Le Mars; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
