Ellen L. "Pee-Wee" Schuette, 57, of Le Mars died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Craig, Iowa, with the Rev. A. Pete Petersen officiating. Burial will be in St. John Evangelical Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today, with the family present after 6 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars. Visitation will resume 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Ellen Louise Schuette was born June 3, 1946, in Hawarden, Iowa, to Emil and Emma (Oloff) Schuette. Ellen was a baptized member of St. John Lutheran Church in Craig. She attended country school in Grant Township. Ellen lived at home with her parents until November 1979, when she became a resident of The Abbey in Le Mars.

She could often be found helping in the kitchen or greeting visitors at the entrance with a smile. "Pee-Wee," as she was known by her friends and family, enjoyed reading and cutting out articles and pictures from the newspaper for her scrapbook. Every year she looked forward to her birthday, when she received cards and gifts from her family and friends.

Survivors include a sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Don Ohlrichs of Le Mars; a sister-in-law, Ida Schuette of Le Mars; two nephews, Gary and his wife, Charletta Ohlrichs of Merrill, Iowa, and Wayne and his wife, Barb Ohlrichs of Norfolk, Neb.; and three nieces, Sharon and her husband, Dick Schnepf of Granville, Iowa, Pam and her husband, Steve Riedlinger of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Deb Schuette of Chandler, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Dale Schuette.
