Geraldine F. "Tiny" Johnson, 89, of Le Mars passed away Sunday, Oct. 15, 2006.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Craig, Iowa, with the Rev. Marvin Miller officiating. Burial will be in St. John Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be 3 to 8 p.m. today at Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars. Visitation will resume 9:30 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church.

Geraldine F. Herzberg was born Aug. 18, 1917, on the family farm near Merrill, Iowa, to August and Katherine (Ohlrichs) Herzberg. She was known to her family and friends as "Tiny." She attended country school near her home. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Johnson Township.

She was united in marriage to George Johnson on Feb. 4, 1939, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. The couple farmed for 45 years west of Craig, Iowa, until moving to Le Mars in November 1985. George passed away July 31, 1988.

She was a long time active member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Craig. She was a member of the W.E.L.C.A. for many years.

Survivors include her daughter and her husband, Judy and Edgar Nicholson of Le Mars; two grandchildren, Phil and Susan Nicholson of Akron, Iowa, and Steve Nicholson of Arlington, Va.; three great-grandchildren, Jill and her husband, Dustin Wichers of Boone, Iowa, Nick Nicholson of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Matthew Nicholson of Akron, Iowa; two great-great-grandchildren, Shawn and Eric Wichers of Boone, Iowa; a sister, Florence Oltmanns of Le Mars; two sisters-in-law, Leona Herzberg of Le Mars and Marjorie Johnson of Ireton, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George in 1988; two sisters, Clara Wetrosky and Rose Croon; and a brother, Elmer "Bud" Herzberg.

Pallbearers will be Nick Nicholson, Matt Nicholson, Dustin Wichers, Clayton Hodgson and Paul Johnson.
