JANICE K. ROWE

LE MARS, Iowa—Janice Kay “Jan” Rowe, 55, of Holton, Kan., formerly of LeMars, died unexpectedly Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001, at her residence.

Memorial services were Wednesday, Jan. 31, at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Holton, where the Rev. Paul Babcock officiated.

Mrs. Rowe was born Nov. 17, 1945, in LeMars, the daughter of Clyde and Helen Coppock. She was raised in LeMars and graduated from LeMars High School in 1964. She graduated from Stephens College in Columbus, Mo., in June 1966, earning an associate’s degree. She then became a flight attendant with United Air Lines.

She married William W. Bates of Storm Lake, Iowa, on Sept. 7, 1968. The couple lived in Providence, R.I. and Athens, GA. They lived in San Diego, while he served in the U.S. Navy. Following his discharge, they moved to Storm Lake and later to Topeka, Kan. Her husband died April 21, 1989.

She married Stan Rowe of Topeka on Dec. 18, 1993. The couple lived in Burlington, Iowa, four years before returning to Kansas.

She enjoyed stamping, quilting, reading and computers.

Survivors include her husband; mother and stepfather, Helen and Adrian Kale of Punta Gorda, Fla.; two daughters and their husbands, Kim and Todd Scott of Peosta, Iowa, and Suzanne and Toby Jackson of Kansas City, Mo.; a son and his wife, Bill and Heather Bates of Schaller, Iowa; three grandchildren, Teryn Scott, Jessi Bates and Treaux Jackson; a brother and his wife, Darrell and Kathy Coppock of Marion, Iowa; and a stepdaughter, Alexis Rowe of Topeka.

She also was preceded in death by her father.
