Minnie Kallsen, 91, of Le Mars died Friday, Jan. 24, 2003, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Craig, Iowa, with the Rev. Peter Petersen officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today, with the family present after 4 p.m. and a prayer service at 5 p.m., at Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars.

Wilhelmena "Minnie" Ankea Tapper was born July 2, 1911, on the family farm in Preston Township, rural Akron, Iowa, to Ben and Anna (Weers) Tapper. Minnie was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Preston Township. She attended Preston No. 9 country school in Preston Township.

She was united in marriage to Eldon P. Kallsen on Sept. 10, 1930, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Preston Township. Minnie and Eldon farmed for 45 years in Preston and Grant townships. They retired from farming in 1975 and continued to live on the farm until 1988, when they purchased a home in Le Mars. Minnie had made her home at Plymouth Manor Care Center since September 2000.

Minnie was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Craig, having served as secretary for the women's missions and also taught Sunday school for more than 25 years. She was also a longtime member of the Plymouth County Farm Bureau.

Survivors include her husband, Eldon of Le Mars, a brother-in-law, Lloyd and his wife, Evelyn Kallsen, also of Le Mars; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Etta Klemme and Anna Hilrichs; and five brothers, John, Henry, Ben, William and Gerhard Tapper in infancy.

Pallbearers will be Gary Kallsen, Dennis Kallsen, Mark Mayrose, Gerald Klemme, Steve Welch and Gaylen Tapper.

Honorary pallbearers will be Raymond Tapper, Howard Altena, Orville Tapper, Alvin Klemme, Orlin Hein, Ralph Klemme and Robert Brown.
