LE MARS, Iowa -- Tillie Harrington, 93, of Le Mars died Sunday, July 4, 2004, at Brentwood Good Samaritan Center in Le Mars.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Brunsville, Iowa, with the Rev. Peter Boe officiating. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Cemetery, Le Mars. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars.

Mathilda F. Siebens was born Nov. 24, 1910, on the family farm in Washington Township, rural Plymouth County, Iowa, to Gerd and Annie (Reese) Siebens. She was confirmed at St. Peter Lutheran Church on March 28, 1926. She attended parochial school at Christ Lutheran Church in Grant Township and later attended school in Brunsville. Following her education, she assisted her parents on the farm.

She was united in marriage to Farrel H. "Fuzz" Harrington on June 8, 1940, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Le Mars, by the Rev. L.L. Belk. The couple lived with her parents before moving to Westfield, Iowa, where they lived in a two-room apartment in the back of the Standard Oil Station they operated. They later moved to a 40-acre farm one and one half miles east of Westfield. In 1943, they moved to her parent's farm which was homesteaded by her grandfather, Peter Reese in 1856. They farmed the family homestead until moving to the Brentwood Good Samaritan Center in 2003.

She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church and had assisted with many church activities throughout the years. She also was a longtime member of the Brunsville Garden Club. She enjoyed working outdoors and tending to her chickens and garden. The couple enjoyed ballroom dancing and playing cards.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 64 years, Farrel; two sons, Vernon F. Harrington and his wife, Karen and Loren H. Harrington, all of Le Mars; two grandchildren, Bethene R. and her husband, Joe L. Adams of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Audra L. Harrington of Young America, Minn.; three great-grandchildren, Kathryn "Katie" Adams, Alexander "Alex" Adams and Brodie Harrington; her godchild, Carol Willer of Le Mars; two sisters-in-law, Joy Weigel of Omaha and Ann and her husband, Delbert Maynard of Akron, Iowa; and many cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
