CRAIG, Iowa -- Jeanine L. Grasz, 71, of Craig died Friday, April 25, 2003, at Hawarden Community Hospital in Hawarden, Iowa.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Craig, with the Rev. Pete Petersen officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Monday at Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars, Iowa.

Jeanine Lois Grasz was born June 5, 1931, in Craig, the daughter of Walter and Vera (Elliott) Baack. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Craig. She attended elementary school in Craig and high school in Ireton, Iowa.

Jeanine was united in marriage to Orval Grasz on Dec. 5, 1948, at St. John's Church in Craig. Orval and Jeanine farmed south of Craig for 24 years. In 1969, Jeanine graduated from Le Mars Beauty College. She was a beautician for 30 years and owned and operated Jeanine's Beauty Box in Craig until June 2001. She also was an Avon representative for many years.

Jeanine was a lifelong member of St. John's, where she was active with circle and W.E.L.C.A. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and embroidering.

Survivors include her husband, Orval of Craig; six children, James and his wife, Rhonda Grasz of Craig; Diane Grasz of Yutan, Neb., Danny Grasz of Portland, Ore., Nancy and her husband, Trevor Baillie of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Joyce and her husband, Doug DeRocher of Merrill, Iowa, and Lori Grasz of Lincoln, Neb.; 12 grandchildren, Shawn Grasz, Shane Grasz, Seth Grasz, Matt DeVries, Sara DeVries, Jessica Grasz, Bart DeRocher, Jill DeRocher, Ashley DeRocher, Allison DeRocher, Grant DeRocher and Drew Zobel; a great-granddaughter, Autumn Grasz; a sister, Marilyn Giffin of Pine River, Minn.; four brothers-in-law, Norman and his wife, Sally Grasz of Ireton, Iowa, Lester and his wife, Ruth Grasz, Larry and his wife, Dorothy Grasz, and Vernon and his wife, Pat, all of Le Mars; and several nieces and nephews.

Jeanine was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Vera Baack.
