AKRON, Iowa -- Edith Lilla Granstrom, 95, of Akron died Sunday, Aug. 25, 2002, at Akron City Convalescent Center.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Akron, with the Rev. Curtis Matson officiating. Burial will be in Brule Creek Cemetery, rural Spink, S.D. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.

Edith Granstrom was born May 15, 1907, on a farm near Brunsville, Iowa, the daughter of Carl Edward and Freda (Jans) Heeren. In 1914, she moved with her parents to a farm west of Akron. She attended Pleasant Ridge Country School and graduated from Akron High School.

She married Hugo Granstrom on Dec. 22, 1926, at her parents' home. They farmed west of Akron for 32 years. In 1959, they moved to Sioux Falls, S.D., where her husband died. She received her LPN degree from Sioux Falls School of Nursing. She worked at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, Auburn General Hospital in Auburn, Wash., St. Vincent Hospital in Sioux City, and Akron Hospital in Akron. She retired at the age of 73.

She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and Lutheran Church Women. She enjoyed cooking, nursing and needle craft.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Wendell and Berniece Granstrom of Sioux City; a daughter and her husband, Arlis and Robert Ostlund of Auburn, Wash.; a daughter-in-law, Carmen Granstrom of Great Falls, Mont.; a sister, Berniece Heasley of Ridgefield, Wash.; two sisters-in-law, Marie Heeren and Velma Heeren, both of Akron; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by a son, Milo; a grandson, Scott; and two brothers, Wesley and Elmer Heeren.
