Dale Henry Sanow, 73, of Remsen, died Wedneday, July 23, 2008, at Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen.

Dale Henry Sanow was born May 29, 1935, at rural Remsen, the son of Henry and Kate (Hansen) Sanow. Dale was raised in the Remsen area and received his education in the Union School system. At the age of 14, he bought his first tractor, a Ferguson, and farmed with his father and brother, William. He worked for a time on the Johnny Heline Turkey Farm. He trucked with his brother, Lester and took over the trucking business after Lester decided to seek other employment. He also farmed with the Klingbeil brothers for a while and for Dr. Ed Henrich. In 1972 he started farming with his life long friend, Clyde Schuttpelz. They farmed together until March 1997, when they both retired and Dale also quit trucking at that time.

Dale was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Remsen and the church Dart Club, Sportsman Club, Ruth's Café Morning Coffee Group and Mrs. B's Afternoon Coffee Group.

He enjoyed old tractors, old cars, NASCAR racing, watching the Animal Planet Channel, a good joke, visiting with friends and giving his dogs a ride in his pickup. What he loved most in life was his dogs, especially Muffy, his little Yorkshire Terrier.

He will be lovingly remembered by his two sisters-in-law, Clover Sanow and Elaine Sanow, both of Remsen; his nieces and nephews, Allen and Pam Sanow of Forsythe, Mo., Gene and Karen Sanow of Vermillion, S.D., Rose Ann and Bruce Lennon of Akron, Marg Sanow, Dewey and Jeanne Sanow, Debbie and Chuck Herman and Roger and Pam Sanow. all of Remsen, Ron Sanow of Everly, and Jeff Sanow of Glidden; many great-nieces and nephews; and two foreign exchange students who adopted an American uncle, Martina Schmider of Germany and Yuki Ebuchi of Japan.

He went to heaven to be with his parents; his brothers, Lester and William; two nephews, Jim Sanow and Larry Sanow; a great niece, Wendy Sanow; and a great nephew, Scott Sanow.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Christ Lutheran Church LCMS in Remsen, with the Rev. Dennis Martens officiating. Burial will be in the Remsen Community Cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Sunday at the Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen. There will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will resume on Monday, from 9 a.m. until service time at Christ Lutheran Church.

Casketbearers will be Brian and Adam Sanow, Chuck and Michael Herman, Brad Jochum and Kory Kroger, Angie Sanow and Krista Nelson. Honorary bearers will be Clyde Schuttpelz, Dr. Ed Henrich, Dennis Kroeger, Ken Alesch, Paul Pick, Dan Pick, Wayne Heidesch, Jim Moritz.
