RUDY DRECKMAN

Rudolph Joseph (Rudy) Dreckman, 72, LeMars, Plymouth County native and lifelong resident, died Saturday (April 14, 1984) at St. Mary’s Hospital, Rochester, Minn., after an illness of several months. He had been at the Rochester hospital for 3 ½ weeks.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in LeMars with Rev. Francis Staber officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, LeMars, under the direction of the Luedtke-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Wasmer Post, American Legion, will conduct military rites at the graveside.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. Monday and the parish rosary will be at 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

He was born Feb. 26, 1912, in Stanton Township to Bernard and Christina Deters Dreckman. Mr. Dreckman and Velma Gronemeyer were married June 16, 1941, in LeMars. They farmed in Stanton Township until 1966 when they moved to LeMars. He was a longtime employee of the city of LeMars until his retirement.

Survivors are his wife, Velma, LeMars; a daughter, Mrs. Byron (Barbara) Boraas Jr., Zumbrota, Minn.; a son, William, LeMars; six grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Ida Rolfes, Akron; Louise Dreckman, Cyrilla Bales, and Mrs. Richard (Rita) Schafer, all of LeMars; and a brother, Andrew, LeMars. He was preceded in death by his parents, two children in infancy and a brother, Marcellus.
