LE MARS, Iowa—Peter N. “Pete” De Blauw, 91, of Terre Haute, Ind., formerly of LeMars, died Tuesday, July 6, 1999, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in LeMars, with the Rev. Jerome Cosgrove officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today, with a Scriptural wake service at 7:30 p.m., at Feuerstein Funeral Home in LeMars.

Mr. De Blauw was born Sept. 10, 1907, in Marion township, Plymouth county, Iowa, the son of Gerrit and Anna (Reisch) De Blauw. He moved with his family to a farm near Crofton, Neb., when he was six years old. He attended St. Joseph’s Parochial School in Constance, Neb.

He married Anna M. Bruscher on Feb. 10, 1931, in Oyens, Iowa. The couple farmed near Hartington, Neb., for a few years, then near Crofton. In 1944, they moved to a farm near LeMars, where they farmed for 40 years. In 1983, they moved into LeMars. She died in January 1993. He moved to Terre Haute in June 1996.

He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Jeanette and her husband, Everett Huffman of Terre Haute and Darnelle Nissen of Theodosia, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a brother and his wife, Joseph and Adelaide of Crofton; and a sister, Marie De Blauw of Crofton.

He was preceded in death by a son, Melvin; a grandson, Neal Nissen; three brothers, Anthony, Louis and Martin; and a sister, Veronica Guenther.

Pallbearers will be Nicholas, Daniel and Douglas Nissen, Michael and Steven DeBlauw, and Larry, Allen and Brian Huffman.
