CHARLES CASKEY

Charles A. Caskey, 77, of Akron died Sunday (April 13, 1986) at Marian Health Center at Sioux City, after a brief illness.

He became ill Wednesday shortly after returning from Des Moines where he signed up for his $50,000 winning lottery ticket. He suffered with heart problems. He purchased two tickets Tuesday from the Akron Super Market.

Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Church of Christ at Akron. Rev. Elmer Hodge will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at Akron.

Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Monday, with the family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.

Mr. Caskey was born Nov. 2, 1908, at Akron. He married Lucille Trudeau Feb. 7, 1931, at Vermillion.

He drove trucks for August Lundgren and Bill Blankenberg until 1943, when he started his own trucking firm. He sold out in 1952 and began working for Gassman Ford at Akron, where he was employed at the time of his death as a car salesman.

Mr. Caskey served as chairman of the truckers drive for a new hospital in Akron several years ago. He was a volunteer fireman for 28 years and served on Akron City Council for two years.

Survivors are his wife, Lucille; three sons, Donald and Dick, both of Akron and Chuck of Sioux City; three brothers, Harold of Elk Point, Eldon of Sioux City and Darrel of Westfield; two sisters, Bernice Hughes of Sioux City and Anna Belle Harkenss of Aurora, Colo.; 20 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
