Jack W. Ludwigs, 96, of rural Le Mars, died Saturday, June 7, 2008, at the Sioux Center Community Hospital in Sioux Center.

Jack W. Ludwigs was born Nov. 7, 1911, in Washington Township, Plymouth County, the son of Henry and Engel (Kleihauer) Ludwigs. He was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church in Grant Township, rural Le Mars. Jack attended Washington Township #3 rural school. After his education, Jack assisted his family with farming.

On March 17, 1937, Jack and Rose Lillian Siebens were united in marriage at Christ Lutheran Church. The couple farmed in Grant Township for many years. They also operated businesses in Richland, S.D., and Struble. Rose died on April 24, 1999.

Jack moved to Le Mars with his nephew Dale until his health forced him to move to Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull. He enjoyed Pleasant Acres and appreciated their care.

Jack was a lifelong member of Christ Lutheran Church. Raising livestock and farming was his life's passion. He also enjoyed traveling.

He will be lovingly remembered by a very special nephew Dale Hennings and his daughter Anna Minnie Rose Hennings of rural Le Mars; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents; wife Rose; sisters Elizabeth Haage, Mary Ruble, Lena Mammen and Ella Molzen; brothers George, William and Elmer Ludwigs.

Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday Christ Lutheran Church (Grant Township), rural Le Mars. The Rev. Peter Boe and the Rev. Dan Gerrietts will officiate. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Le Mars. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. today (Monday) at the Mauer - Johnson Funeral Home. The family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the funeral on Tuesday.
