Anna Huebner, 93, of Akron, died Friday, June 29, 2007, at the Akron Care Center in Akron.

Anna Marie Huebner was born April 10, 1914, on the family farm south of Chatsworth, the daughter of David and Anna (Stallbaum) Vanderham. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Chatsworth. She attended country school near Chatsworth. She was united in marriage to August "Auggie" Huebner on Oct. 28, 1933, at St. Matthews Lutheran Church.

The couple farmed east of Spink, S.D. She was a homemaker for her family and helped August on the farm. During that time, Anna received her first aid training to help with the soldiers during war. In 1964, they retired from farming and moved to Vermillion, S.D., where Anna worked as a cook at the University of South Dakota. Later, they moved to Sioux City, where Anna worked for Zenith. In 1973, they settled in Akron. In April of 2006, August and Anna became residents of the Akron Care Center. August died March 30, 2007.

Anna was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron where she participated in the ladies aide and quilting. She loved dancing, playing cards, sewing, and crocheting. She loved cooking and baking bread. She also enjoyed canning meats and vegetables. Anna enjoyed playing the accordion, harmonica, and keyboard. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her three sons: Melvin Huebner and his special friend, Pat Howard of Akron, Norman Huebner and his wife Norma of Sioux City, and Richard Huebner and his wife Fran of Akron; a daughter-in-law: Pat Huebner of Kennewick, Wash.; seven grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; nine step-great-great-grandchildren; a brother: William Vanderham and his wife Mariem of Sioux City; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son: Edwin; five sisters: Marie Place, Lena Weyen, Katie Kaelke, Minnie Haage, and Rose Huebner; two brothers: Fred and Herman Vanderham; a grandson: Richard Huebner, Jr.; and a granddaughter in infancy.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A. in Akron. The Rev. Jean Morse will officiate. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery in Akron. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today (Monday) with the family present after 6 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m., all at Carlsen Funeral Home - Schroeder Chapel in Akron.
