Edward Eugene (Sullivan) Steele, 57, died May 4, 2007, in Edmonds, Wash.

Edward was born Sept. 24, 1949, in Sioux City. He was adopted by Floyd and Lorraine (Stoeber) Sullivan, and after Floyd's death, he was adopted by Leon Steele. Edward lived in Le Mars until the age of 7, moving to Iowa City and graduating from Regina High School in Iowa City. He served with the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Following his discharge, he relocated to Washington state.

Edward is survived by two step-sisters, Jeanine Tufty of Fulton, Ill., and Patricia Steele of Fort Collins, Colo.; two step-brothers, Roger Steele, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Scott Steele, Paradise, Calif. Also surviving are aunts and uncles, Jane Truesdell, Margaret Schumacher, Helen Sullivan, Robert and Betty Stoeber, Dorothy Anderson, Earl and Mary Britton, Shirley Sullivan and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his adoptive parents and a step-sister.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, with the Rev. James Tigges officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Feuerstein Funeral Home.
