Sally R. (Starkmann) Rollins, 71, of Akron, died Friday, Sept. 21, 2007, at Hillcrest Health Care in Hawarden.

Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Akron. Pastor Damon Green will officiate. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery in Akron. Visitations will be after 3 p.m. today (Monday), with the family present after 6 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m., all at Carlsen Funeral Home -- Schroeder Chapel in Akron.

Sally R. Rollins, 71, of Akron, Iowa, passed away Friday, September 21, 2007 at Hillcrest Health Care in Hawarden, Iowa.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at First Baptist Church in Akron. Pastor Damon Green will officiate. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery in Akron. Visitations will be after 3:00 p.m. Monday, September 24, 2007, with the family present after 6:00 p.m., and a Prayer service at 7:00 p.m., all at Carlsen Funeral Home – Schroeder Chapel in Akron.

Sally Rae Rollins was born August 6, 1936 in Akron, Iowa, the daughter of Edwin “Walt” and Maria (Jans) Starkmann. She attended school in the Akron area. She was united in marriage to Frank Rollins on May 1, 1959 at the Methodist church in Elk Point, South Dakota. Sally and Frank were longtime residents of Akron where they raised their five children. Sally worked various jobs throughout her life, but her most loved was the 20 years she spent providing childcare to Akron and the surrounding communities. Frank passed away on April 28, 1997 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Sally loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed going to bingo, collecting ceramic dogs, and wind chimes. Sally will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and caregiver. She was always there for anyone who needed her, always considerate and giving. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her 5 children: Corinne Hemmelman of Hawarden, IA, Debra Small and her husband David of Brunsville, IA, Lisa Clarey and her husband Randy of Akron, IA, Candy Horn and her husband Kevin of Akron, IA, and Frank Rollins of Hawarden, IA; 20 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and a nephew: Robert Starkmann.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank; a brother: Robert Starkmann; and 2 grandsons: Jason Anderson and Timothy Langley.
