Edna M. (Harris) Parry

KINGSLEY, Iowa -- Edna M. (Harris) Parry, 96, of Kingsley passed away Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2007, at Sunrise Retirement Community in Sioux City.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at United Methodist Church in Kingsley, with the Rev. Roger Kurtenbach officiating. Burial will be 1:15 p.m. Monday in Schaller Cemetery at Schaller, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. today, with the family present 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., and a 7:30 p.m. prayer service, at Rohde-Earnest Funeral Home in Kingsley. Visitation will resume one hour prior to services Monday at the church.

Edna Mary Lorenzen was born May 7, 1911, at Brookings, S.D., to Detlef and Nettie Lorenzen. She moved with her family to Lewistown, Mont., and lived there for seven years before moving to Schaller, Iowa. She attended school in Schaller and graduated from Schaller High School in 1929.

On March 3, 1936, Edna and Willard Harris were united in marriage at Sioux City. They moved to the Kingsley area in 1943. Edna and Willard farmed in the Kingsley and Pierson, Iowa, area for many years. Mr. Parry passed away on March 6, 1971.

On Feb. 9, 1974, Edna married Ellsworth Parry at United Methodist Church in Kingsley. Throughout the years, Edna worked at Kingsley Medical Center and Kingsley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Mr. Parry passed away on March 9, 1991.

Edna was a member of United Methodist Church in Kingsley, United Methodist Women and was a member of Circle. She was also a member of the Kingsley Garden Club and Order of the Eastern Star, Garfield Chapter 171.

She will be lovingly remembered by her three sons, Larry and his wife, Vicky of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Ron and his wife, Donna of Sioux City, and John and his wife, Jan of Monument, Colo.; five grandchildren, Mark and Sherri Harris, David and Andrea Harris, Matthew and Robin Harris, Josie and Mark Temple and Jake and Diana Harris; five great-grandchildren, Eric and Erin Harris, Reid and Sloane Harris and Max Temple; and a brother, Delbert Lorenzen of Sac City, Iowa.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Kenneth; five brothers and three sisters.
