Barbara H. Siebens, 78, of rural Le Mars, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2007, at the Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars.

Barbara Hansen was born Nov. 2, 1928, at Odebolt, the daughter of Hugo and Anna (Kullberg) Hansen. She was the youngest of three daughters. Barbara grew up in Odebolt and graduated from Odebolt High School. She continued her education at Buena Vista College obtaining her teaching certificate. Barbara taught for several years until the school closed and then she worked at a variety store in Odebolt.

Barbara met the love of her life, Orval Siebens and they were married Jan. 9, 1965. They built their life together working side by side on the family farm in Washington Township, rural Plymouth County, near Le Mars. Later in life, Barbara enjoyed working at the McDonald's in Le Mars for eight years.

Barbara had a strong faith, growing up in the Covenant Church and attending St. Peter Lutheran Church in Brunsville for the many years she and Orval enjoyed together.

Barbara knew and lived her life demonstrating that the greatest treasures in life are truly free: faith in her Lord and loving her family and friends.

Barbara enjoyed visiting with friends and family; she especially enjoyed making friends while having coffee at McDonalds. At home, she loved to care for the many kittens on the farm, often naming each of the kittens.
