Dorothy C. Lubben, 74, of Brunsville, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2007, at her home.

Dorothy Cecelia Willer was born on July 20, 1933 on the family farm in Washington Township, the daughter of John and Katherine (Papritz) Willer. Dorothy was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Brunsville. She attended school in Brunsville and later attended and graduated from Le Mars Central High School in 1952. Following graduation from high school, Dorothy moved to Los Angeles, Calif., where she worked for a local AAA office. In December 1952, Dorothy returned to Brunsville.

Dorothy was united in marriage to Raymond Lubben on Aug. 16, 1954, at Christ Lutheran Church in Grant Township. Following her marriage to Ray, Dorothy began working at NIPCO in Le Mars until she and Ray began a family. Dorothy and Ray were blessed with two children, Dean and Darwin.

Dorothy and Ray have been longtime members of Christ Lutheran Church. She had been a longtime member of the W.E.L.C.A. and the choir for many years. She had also taught Sunday school, served as the church treasurer for several years, quilting, and had volunteered whenever there was a need to help the church. The church had always been a very important part of her and Ray's life together. Dorothy had also been a longtime member of the 4-Season Garden Club in Brunsville. She and Ray enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. One of her greatest joys in life was being "grandma" to her four grandchildren: Alisha, Eric, Crystal, and Amy.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Ray of Brunsville; a son and daughter-in-law, Darwin and Judy Lubben of rural Le Mars and their children Eric, Crystal, and Amy; a daughter-in-law, Barb Lubben and her daughter Alisha of Johnstown, Colo.; two sisters: Paula Lawrensen and her husband Glen of Vermillion, S.D., and Carol Schlotfeldt of Webster City; a brother, Alvin Willer of Brunsville; a sister-in-law, Joyce Willer of Le Mars; her in-laws: Lorraine Renken and her husband Elmer of Le Mars and Earl Lubben and his wife Verona of Le Mars; and several nieces, nephews, and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Katherine (Papritz) Willer; a son, Dean Lubben in 2005; a brother, Charles Willer; a brother-in-law, Ray Schlotfeldt; and two sisters-in-law, Katherine Willer and Dorothy A. Lubben.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Christ Lutheran Church, Grant Township, rural Le Mars, with the Rev. Dan Gerrietts officiating. Interment will be in Christ Lutheran Cemetery. Visitations will be after 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars with the family present after 4:30 p.m. to greet friends followed by a 6 p.m. prayer service. Visitations will continue Wednesday morning from 9:30 a.m. until service time.

Pallbearers will be Mark Lubben, Mark Lawrensen, Tim Renken, Mike Willer, John Willer, and Wayne Schlotfeldt. Honorary casketbearers will be Brad Lubben, Phil Schlotfeldt, James Willer, Jay Willer, Paul Willer, Terry Renken, and Brian Renken
