Dolores M. Letsche, 94, of Marcus, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2007, at the Heartland Care Center in Marcus.

Dolores Marie Letsche was born Dec. 1, 1913, the daughter of Frank T. and Elizabeth (Nacke) Kass. She was raised on a farm in Plymouth County near Remsen, and attended rural school close to her home.

On Jan. 30, 1936, Dolores and Carl Letsche were united in marriage at the Holy Name Church Rectory in Marcus. The couple made their home on a farm north of Marcus for 35 years. They retired in the spring of 1971 and moved to Marcus. Carl died on July 10, 1984. Dolores moved to Heartland Care Center June 7, 2006.

Dolores was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, St. Ann's Guild, and Missionary. She enjoyed spending time in her flower garden, especially caring for her roses. She also liked to play pinochle with her family and friends.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children Jerry Letsche and his wife Charlene of Marcus, Fern Clarkson and her husband Jack of Marcus, Charles Letsche and his wife Jackie of Cherokee, Arnold Letsche and his wife Pat of Krugerville, Texas, and Teresa Dalton and her husband Don of Cherokee; 17 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; sisters Imelda Roethler of Marcus and Georgia Kass of Le Mars; brothers Joe Kass and his wife Pat of Cherokee, Ray Kass and his wife Floreine of Marcus, and Charles Kass and his wife Donna of Sioux City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Carl; a daughter-in-law Patricia Letsche; great-grandson Michael Letsche in on Aug. 13, 2007; two brothers Greg and Leo Kass; and a sister Rita Schuetz.

Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. today (Monday) at Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus, with the Rev. Eugene Murray officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery. Visitation was after 2 p.m. Sunday at the Earnest - Rohde Funeral Home in Marcus, with the family present from 5 to 8 p.m. and a Scriptural prayer service at 7 p.m. There was also one hour of visitation at the church prior to Mass on Monday.
