Freda H. Dreeszen, 99, of Akron, Iowa, passed away Thursday, December 20, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.

Services will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, December 29, 2007 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Akron. Reverend Laurice Streyffeller will officiate. Burial will be prior to the services at 2:00 p.m. in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, rural Merrill, Iowa. Visitations will be after 4:00 p.m. Friday, December 28, 2007, with the family present after 6:00 p.m., and a Prayer service at 7:30 p.m., all at the church. Visitation will resume from 10:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 29, 2007 at Carlsen Funeral Home – Schroeder Chapel in Akron.

Casket Bearers: Lonnie Schuchard, Craig Schuchard, Hal Schuchard, Don Hand, and Travis Renoe.

Freda Hope Dreeszen was born September 12, 1908 in Plymouth County, Iowa, near Adaville, the daughter of Warren and Birdean (Poyzer) King. She was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith at the Evangelical United Brethren Church at Adaville. She attended school in Plymouth County and graduated form Liberty Consolidated School. She married Cal Andersen in 1928. Later, she married Tom Dreeszen in 1960. She and Tom farmed near Adaville. She was a homemaker for her family. After Tom’s passing, she moved to Akron in 1973. She worked for the Akron Laundry Mat and for First National Bank in Akron and also volunteered at the Akron Senior Center. She lived in the Six Plex Apartments in Akron for over 13 years, most recently she was a resident of the Akron Care Center.

She was longtime member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Akron. She was also a member of the Akron Senior Center. She enjoyed playing in the Akron Care Center Bell Choir for many years. She enjoyed quilting, needle point, and crocheting. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include a daughter, Delores Schuchard of Akron, IA; 3 grandsons: Lonnie Schuchard and his wife Deb of Sioux City, IA, Craig Schuchard and his wife Julie of Sioux City, IA, and Hal Schuchard and his wife Elaine of Norwalk, IA; 6 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tom; 2 brothers: Elvin in infancy and Stanley; and 3 sisters: Elva Hawkins, Ione Roggow, and Ferne Tindall.
