Carolyn Landis, 65, of Le Mars, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2007, at her home after a lengthy battle with health issues.

Carolyn Mae Cooper was born Jan. 25, 1942, at Castana, the daughter of Elzie and Thelma (Benson) Cooper. Her family moved to Charter Oak in 1948 and back to Castana in 1958 where she graduated from high school in 1960. Carolyn was united in marriage to James R. Landis on Sept. 23, 1972, in Le Mars. Carolyn worked for various businesses in Le Mars throughout the years.

Her greatest joy was being a homemaker and mother to her children. James died on Aug. 18, 2004.

Carolyn was a member of the Le Mars Church of Christ. She enjoyed Artex painting, visiting with family and friends on the telephone, her computer, and entertaining her family. She also enjoyed playing the piano, listening to music and watching game shows and food programs on the television.

Survivors include her seven children: a son, Allen and Lorrie Lamb of Sioux Falls, S.D., and their children A.J. Lamb and his wife Denise and their son Justin, Chris Lamb and Alissa and their son Peyton, Josh Lamb and Jordan and their son Noah; a son, David and Laurie Lamb of Le Mars and their children Albert, Daisy, Marcy, and Janet Lamb; a son, Michael Lamb and his friend Jennifer Jungers of Le Mars; a daughter, Carla and Frank Campbell of Sac City, and their children Tim and Brandi; Jodi Koopman of Sioux Falls, S.D., and her children Nick, Alex, Kelsi, and Jacob; James Jr. and Sarah Landis of Le Mars and their children, Kayla, Jon, Michael, and Sydney and Kyle Wielenga; and a daughter, Sharon and Ed Evers of Laurens; brothers and sisters: Joanne Meeves and her husband Bob of Dunlap, Bob Cooper and his wife Joyce of Creston, Ron Cooper and his wife Judy of Englewood, Colo.; and a sister-in-law, Jeanette Cooper of Tulsa, Okla.; and several nieces and nephews.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Elzie and Thelma (Benson) Cooper; her husband, James Landis Sr. in 2004; a daughter, Susan Landis in infancy; and a brother, Richard Cooper.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Carlsen Funeral Home of Le Mars with Pastor Casey Kleeman of the Le Mars Church of Christ officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Cemetery. Visitations will be after 3 p.m. Thursday at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars with the family present to greet friends after 6 p.m. followed by a 7 p.m. Prayer service, all at the funeral home. Visitations will continue Friday until service time at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Albert Lamb, Nick Peters, Alex Peters, Tim Campbell, Chris Lamb, and Josh Lamb. Honorary casketbearers will be A.J. Lamb, Jacob Ritter, Jon Landis, Michael Landis, and Kyle Wielenga.
