Gloria M. Stotz, 82, of Akron, died Tuesday morning, Feb. 5, 2008, at the Akron Care Center in Akron.

Services 10:30 a.m. Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A. in Akron. The Rev. Dawn Quame will officiate. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Akron. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Thursday with the family from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m., all at Carlsen Funeral Home - Schroeder Chapel in Akron.

OBITUARY: Gloria M. Stotz, 82, of Akron, Iowa, passed away Tuesday morning, February 5, 2008 at the Akron Care Center in Akron.

Services 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 8, 2008 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A. in Akron. Reverend Dawn Quame will officiate. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Akron. Visitation will be after 4:00 p.m. Thursday, February 7, 2008, with the family from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and a Prayer service at 7:00 p.m., all at Carlsen Funeral Home - Schroeder Chapel in Akron.

Gloria Mae Stotz was born April 25, 1925 in Union County, South Dakota, the daughter of Fred and Minnie Mae (Abraham) Halversen. She attended school in Akron. She worked as a bartender in Akron in for over 40 years. She had also managed the café in Spink, South Dakota. She was united in marriage to Jake Stotz on September 4, 1950 in Akron, Iowa. They made their home in Akron for many years. Jake passed away April 12, 1999 in Akron. Gloria had lived in the Ridgewood Apartments until becoming a resident at the Akron Care Center in January of this year. Gloria was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Akron. She enjoyed shopping, traveling, and animals. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her 5 step-children: Janette Carnes, Barbara Marvin, Joyce Henry, Janice Knittel, and Jakie Bourdeau; a sister-in-law: Bertha Myears of Lake Anders, SD; a special niece: Ronda Wates and her husband Alex Ramirez of Battle Creek, MI; a special nephew: Dennis Stotz and his wife Sonia of Omaha, NE; many other nieces and nephews; her dear friend and caregiver, Christina Lewison of Akron, IA, and special friend: June Lamoureux of Akron, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter in infancy; 2 sisters: Joyce Halversen and Donna Rae Liston; and a brother: Dwayne Halversen.
