ELDON LAKE

MERRILL, Iowa --- Eldon Lake, 87, of Merrill, died Monday in a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Merrill United Methodist Church. The Rev. Donald Bardole will officiate. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in Merrill. There will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. today in the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars.

Mr. Lake was born May 6, 1896, in Merrill, and was a lifelong area resident. He married Ellen Easton Feb. 8, 1921, in rural Merrill. They farmed in the Merrill area, retiring into town in 1953.

Mr. Lake was a member of the United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of Oleson Halweg Post 125 American Legion for more than 60 years.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Leo (Margorie) Jividen of Sioux City; two sons, Donald of LeMars, and Stanley of Hinton; a sister, Ellen Lindsey of Merrill; nine grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
