Mrs. Harold (Luella) Mouser, 78, of Remsen, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2003, at Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen.

Luella Mouser was born Sept. 28, 1925, at Remsen, the daughter of August and Emma (Koerner) Sanow. Luella was raised in the Remsen area and received her education at the Remsen School. On Nov. 25, 1943, she married Lester Bentz at Remsen where they made their home. From that marriage were born two daughters, Judy and Diane. The family moved to Le Mars in March 1950. Lester drowned in a boat accident on May 20, 1950 and shortly thereafter Luella and the girls moved back to Remsen.

On Aug. 27, 1954, Luella married Harold Mouser at Remsen where they made their home. Luella cleaned many offices and homes in her younger years and later was employed by Remsen St. Mary's as their custodian for 18 years. She became a resident of the Happy Siesta Health Care Center on Dec. 10, 2003.

She was a cancer survivor for over 40 years.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband, Harold of Remsen; three sons, Gene and his wife, Janet of Groveport, Ohio, Kevin and his wife, Malia of Remsen, and Steve of Columbus, Ohio; four daughters and their husbands, Judy and Lon Bruinsma of Sioux Center, Diane and Dan Hansen of Remsen, Gail and Romas Jankevicius of Omaha, Neb., and Kim and Charles Loutsch of Le Mars; 19 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Wayne and Don Sanow both of Marcus; three sisters and their husbands, Arlene and Marty Wanderscheid of Le Mars, Darlene and Junior Connor of Austin, Minn., Shirley and Stan Nilles of Kingsley, and two special nephews, Dean and Gene Connor both of Austin, Minn..

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother and sister-in-law, Harlan and Doris Sanow and another sister-in-law, Carrie Sanow.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen with the Rev. Timothy Johnson officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Remsen. Friends may call anytime after 2 p.m. Sunday at the Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen. There will be a parish rosary at 3 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Casketbearers will be Kevin, Joe, Gene, Eugene, Francis and Steve Mouser.
