Arlene Wanderscheid, 75, of Le Mars, was called home to her Lord on Wednesday Oct. 10, 2007, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Arlene May Sanow was born June 14, 1932 in Remsen, the daughter of August and Emma (Koerner) Sanow. She grew up in Remsen and graduated from Remsen Public High School. Arlene married Martin Wanderscheid on Oct. 4, 1950 at Marcus. Following their marriage the couple lived in Amarillo, Texas, for 37 years and then moved to Le Mars in 1987. For the last 20 years Arlene and Marty had managed Floyd Valley Apartments in Le Mars.

Arlene was a devout Catholic and was an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Le Mars, where she had served the parish as a Eucharistic Minister.

Survivors include her husband, Marty Wanderscheid of Le Mars; a daughter Theresa Tull of Le Mars; four grandchildren: Damon Shrauner and his special friend Buffy, Bambi Mattheis and her husband Ben, Amie Arens and her husband Dustin and grandson at heart, Christopher Beermann, all of Le Mars; three great-grandchildren: Tessa Mattheis and Adie and Claire Arens; a brother Don Sanow of Marcus; and two sisters: her twin sister Darlene Connors of Austin, Minn., and Shirley Nilles and her husband Stan of Kingsley.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter Michelle Tull-Beermann; a sister Luella Mouser; and two brothers, Harlan and Wayne Sanow.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Le Mars, with the Rev. Kevin Richter presiding. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today (Friday) at the Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars, where there will be a rosary at 4 p.m. and the Scriptural wake service at 7 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Dustin Arens, Damon Shrauner, Mike Feller, Chris Beermann, Joe Mouser and Doug Osterbuhr. Honorary pallbearers will be Kevin and Malia Mouser.
