Sharon Kaye Dorhout, 51, of Le Mars, died Tuesday, Dec, 9, 2003, in Le Mars, following a courageous battle with cancer.
The former Sharon Kaye June was born July 1, 1952, at Le Mars, the daughter of Melvin and Lillian (Johnson) June. She was raised in Merrill and graduated from Le Mars Community High School. Sharon married Don Dorhout at Merrill. While she was married to Don the couple lived in Sioux Center for eight years. Sharon then lived at Orange City for a couple of years, 18 years in Le Mars and four years in Lone Tree. While living in Le Mars, she had been employed with Sod's Bar and later Hugo's Bar as a waitress before working for Wells' Dairy, Inc. After moving to Lone Tree she was employed by Aramark in Iowa City.
Sharon enjoyed writing poetry and had some of her work published by various publishers.
Survivors include her four children: Brenda Grover and her husband, Tony, of Lone Tree, Chad Dorhout and his wife, Cara, of Des Moines, Melanie Dorhout of Algona, and Sean Dorhout of Des Moines; three grandchildren, Sandon and Marissa Grover and Emma Dorhout; her mother, Lillian June of Merrill; five brothers, Allen June and his wife, Shirley, of Las Vegas, Nev., Kenny June and Ron June, both of Merrill, Rod June and his wife, Teresa, of Boyden, and Denis June and his wife Rose of Hubbard; a sister, Darlene Pieper and her husband, Dennis, of Sioux Center; and a very dear friend, Evelyn Rodenburgh of Le Mars.
She was preceded in death by her father Melvin June.
Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Le Mars Assembly of God Church with Pastor Dan Krause officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in Merrill. Friends may call anytime after 4 p.m. today (Thursday) at the Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars. The family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Visitation will also be from 9 a.m. until service time at the church on Friday.
Pallbearers will be Sod Dreckman, Cottie Collins, Tony Ruhland, John Robinette, and Kal Kohler.
