Raymond M. Wieck, 82, of Sioux City went to meet his Savior on Thursday, July 17, 2003, at Casa de Paz Retirement Home following a lengthy illness.
Services will be 7 p.m. Monday at Northside Alliance Church, with the Rev. Maurice Russell officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Hillside Cemetery in Merrill, Iowa. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is handling arrangements.
Raymond M. Wieck was born June 14, 1921, in Plymouth County, Iowa, the son of Henry and Jessie (Blackmore) Wieck.
He married Lucille Rath and then later married Rose Stroman. Rose died in 1984. He married Betty J. Baker in 1986 in Sioux City. Mr. Wieck lived in the Merrill area until 1953, when he came to Sioux City. He was a self-employed carpenter and was a member of the Carpenters Union Local 948.
He was a member of Northside Alliance Church. Mr. Wieck loved to garden and to feed and watch the birds and squirrels.
Survivors include his wife, Betty of Sioux City; his children, Gary Wieck and his wife, Connie of Platte, S.D., Leonard Wieck of Plattsmouth, Neb., Lana Dye and her husband, Dennis of Sioux City, Beverly Pence and her husband, Gary of Dakota Dunes, S.D., Rhonda Gill of Kentucky, Jeffrey Baker of Florida, Elton Baker and his wife, Tracy of Sioux City, Dan Stroman and his wife, Ruth of Sioux City, Rosella Goodwin of Sioux City, Larry Stroman and his wife, Jan of Moville, Iowa, Bruce Stroman and his wife, Betty of Sioux City, Kenny Stroman and his wife, Lois of Sioux City and John Stroman of Sioux City; a brother, Lloyd Wieck and his wife, Geraldine of Hinton, Iowa; 43 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Rose, he was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jim Stroman; and a grandson, Greg Doizaki.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association.
