LE MARS, Iowa -- Gladys D. Krause, 86, of Le Mars passed away Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars, with the Rev. Leonard Waller officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Merrill, Iowa. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.

Gladys D. Petersen was born Oct. 20, 1915, on a farm near Merrill, the daughter of Jim and Dora (Sorenson) Petersen. She attended country school near Merrill. Following her education, she assisted her parents with farming. The family later moved to Le Mars.

On Nov. 29, 1947, she and George A. Krause were united in marriage in Le Mars. They lived with and cared for her parents until they passed away. She was a homemaker during the years George worked for the railroad. He passed away Aug. 11, 1986. She lived for many years at Plymouth Life and Brentwood Good Samaritan Center before moving to The Abbey of Le Mars.

She will be lovingly remembered by her sister and her husband, Bernice and Nick Loutsch of Sioux City; a sister-in-law, Alene Petersen of Lincoln, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by six sisters, Viola Knecht, Katie Knecht, Hazel Huisman, Pearl Schulz, Myrtle Schulz and Mildred Schulz; and a brother, Lloyd Petersen.
