Blanche Kathleen Kramer was born May 26, 1911, at Sunnyside, Wash., the daughter of Charles and Mary E. (Vetter) Brown. When Blanche was a young girl, the family moved to a farm west of Le Mars. Blanche attended country school near her home and would later work as a housekeeper for neighboring families.
On Aug. 30, 1930, Blanche and Arthur W. Kramer were united in marriage at Woden, Minn. The couple made their home on a farm near Merrill. They relocated to a farm in Stanton Township in Plymouth County, Iowa, and farmed there for a few years prior to their move to West Le Mars. Blanche and her family would then move to a farm near Hinton. Arthur passed away on Dec. 14, 1975. Shortly thereafter, Blanche moved to Hinton. From 1981 to 1986, she baked pies, cinnamon rolls and was responsible for the salad bar at the Truck Haven Restaurant in Le Mars, a job she thoroughly enjoyed.
Blanche will be lovingly remembered by her son, Eugene Kramer of Portland, Ore.; two daughters, Elizabeth Shaw-VanderKooi of Le Mars and Sue Rae Labahn and her husband, Bill of Hinton; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; a brother, Frank Brown of Salix, Iowa; a sister, Florence Thoms of Le Mars; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arthur; a grandson, Wade Kramer; and her brothers and their wives, Glenn and Margaret Brown and Ray and Dorothy Brown.
