Mrs. John C. Smith

Mrs. John C. (Irene) Smith, 59, died Monday, July 26, 1982 in the Akron hospital after a long illness.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 29 in the Wesley United Methodist church in Akron. the Rev. Peter Peterson and Dr. Lester Bellwood will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery in Akron.

A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Schroeder funeral home in Akron.
"Peach In the Valley" and "How Great Thou Art" will be sung by Mrs. Lynn Swanson, accompanied by Mrs. Dottie Clark.

Pallbearers will be Greg Bellwood, Virgil Smith, Duane Smith, Dennis Smith, Daryl Smith, Joe Banks, Wendell Snow and Eugene Harbeck.

Mrs. Smith, the former Irene Fern Bellwood, was born November 13, 1922 in Union county, South Dakota, near Akron, Iowa. She married John C. Smith, March 27, 1943, at South Sioux City, Neb.

She taught school in the Akron-Westfield area for many years. She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist church in Akron.

She is survived by her husband, John C., of Akron; one son, Joe, of Bethel, Conn.; one sister, Mrs. Matt (Lucille) Gale of Akron; two brothers, Lowell Bellwood of Akron and Dr. Lester Bellwood of Evergreen, Colo.; and two grandsons, Kyle and Brian Smith of Bethel, Conn.
