Avery W. Small, 73, Akron, Iowa -- Died April 22 at home. Funeral 2 p.m. April 25, First Baptist Church, the Rev. Michael Strom. Burial Riverside Cemetery, Masonic rites Freedom Lodge 434. Prayer service 8 p.m. April 24 Schroeder Funeral Home. Service by Vesper Chapter 61, Order of Eastern Star, immediately after prayer service.
Born Aug. 18, 1895, Plymouth County, near Merrill. Married Grace Stinton June 14, 1915 Elk Point, S. D.
Was trucker and operated corn sheller Akron area 13 years; operated Akron gas station for last 41 years. Former Akron town councilman.
Survivors: widow; sons, Kenneth, Ivyl, Eldon, Clayton, James and Gayland, all of Akron, Roscoe of LeMars, Clinton of Moorhead, Minn., and Faye of Mesquite, Tex.; daughters, Mrs. Basil Blum of Lawton, Mrs. Lyle Baldwin of Alexandria, La., and Mrs. Robert Govig of Grant, Iowa; three brothers, Harley of Sioux City, Wesley and Deuwaine, both of Burlington, Wash.; 46 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
