Harold Schweitzberger
Harold Schweitzberger, 69, of Kingsley, died Friday, Jan. 31, 1992 at a Sioux City hospital. Services were at 10:30 a.m. today (Monday) at the Kingsley United Methodist Church, with the Rev. John Crosswhite officiating. Burial was in the Kingsley Cemetery, with military rites by the American Legion Nash Post 140. Visitation was after 2 p.m. Sunday, with the family present between 7-8 p.m., at the Dickison-Michaelson Funeral Home in Kingsley.
Mr. Schweitzberger was born Jan. 7, 1923, at Kingsley, the son of William and Sarah (Rice) Schweitzberger. He graduated from Pierson High School in 1940. He served in the army during the Korean War. He married Betsy Dennler on March 20, 1950, at LeMars. He was a lifelong area resident who operated Schweitzberger Trucking and did corn shelling and custom combining. He was a sales representative for S.O.I. Brand Seeds.
He was a member of Kingsley United Methodist Church and the Iowa Motor Truck Association. He was a member and past commander of the American Legion in Kingsley and was currently serving as commander of the Plymouth County American Legion.
Survivors include his wife; six sons, Ron and his wife, Vicki, Gerald and his wife Darnell, Rick and his wife Shelly, and Dennis, all of Kingsley, Stephen and his wife Mary of Holstein, and Bill of Council Bluffs; four brothers, Ernest, Ralph, Francis and Kenneth, all of Kingsley; five sisters, Mrs. Clarence (Fern) Johnson of Perry, Iowa, Mrs. Melvin (Viola) Kramer of Kingsley, Mrs. Ed. (Violet) Keller of California City, Calif., Pearl Nagel of Sequim, Wash.; and 16 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Walter.
