B. A. Bogenrief Suffers Fatal Heart Attack at Home
B.A. (Art) Bogenrief, 82, lifelong rural Merrill resident, died Sunday (Jan. 28, 1973) at his rural Merrill home after suffering an apparent heart attack. He had not been ill.
Mr. Bogenrief was a retired farmer having lived in Plymouth township, rural Merrill, his entire life.
He was an active member of the Floyd Valley Chordsmen and a past member of the Le Mars Municipal band. He also served as past director of the Plymouth county REC. He was a member and trustee of the Merrill-Melbourne United Methodist church and of the Farm Bureau.
Benjamin Arthur Bogenrief was born Feb. 18, 1890, rural Merrill, the son of the late William O. and Mary Jane (Grist) Bogenrief.
He married Albena Winter March 18, 1912 at the farm home at rural Merrill. The couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last March 19 at the Merrill church.
Burial will be in Floyd Valley cemetery, rural Merrill, under direction of Mauer funeral home, Le Mars.
Mr. Bogenrief was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.
Survivors are his wife, Albena of rural Merrill; a daughter, Mrs. Carolyn Wood of Valdese, N. C.; two sons, James of rural Merrill and Donald of Laguna Beach, Calif.; two brothers, A. E. of Hinton and William of Sioux City; a sister, Mrs. Eva Conrad of Jasper, Minn., six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Merrill-Melbourne United Methodist church with Rev. Walden Paige officiating.
