LE MARS, Iowa -- Rose Agnes Krogh of Le Mars, formerly of Sioux City and Sergeant Bluff, died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003, at Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars, with the Rev. James Tigges officiating. Burial will be in Le Mars Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday, with a parish rosary at 4 p.m., the family present for a Scriptural wake service at 7 p.m., and a Catholic Daughters rosary at 7:30 p.m., at Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars.
The former Rose Kenaley was born Feb. 15, 1916, at Ticonic, Iowa, Monona County, to Joseph Leo and Josephine Margaret (Sullivan) Kenaley. She moved to Le Mars with her family in 1931, and graduated in 1934 from Union Consolidated High School. She earned her teacher's certificate at Western Union College in Le Mars, and taught in Plymouth County country schools for seven years.
During the World War II years, she worked at "The Depot" in Sioux City, assisting the home-based war effort at the time when troops were based at the Army Air Corp Sioux City Airport. Continuing her career in Sioux City, Rose was employed by MidWest Paper Company (later Carpenter Paper Company) as a catalog sales representative.
She and Donald L. Krogh were married Feb. 8, 1964, at St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars. They moved to their farm at Sergeant Bluff, where they farmed for 32 years. They enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, a cruise and a trip to the Holy Land.
Rose was a longtime member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Salix, Iowa, where she was treasurer of its guild for a number of years. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars, and Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court 269, Sioux City.
Following the death of her husband on Aug. 25, 1996, she moved back to her home in Le Mars, where she had since resided. She entered Plymouth Manor Care Center in January 2000.
Survivors include four sisters, Alice Murray of Iowa City, Rita Starzl, Betty Kenaley, and Bonnie (Joe) Ruden, all of Le Mars; three brothers, Gerald J. Kenaley of New Buffalo, Mich., and Donald (Helen) Kenaley and Robert (Ruth) Kenaley, all of Le Mars; three brothers-in-law, Max Krogh of Sergeant Bluff, Darrell Krogh and Kenneth Krogh; and 32 nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Don, she was preceded her in death by her parents; a sister, Mary Louise Kidd; three brothers-in-law, Allan Murray, James Kidd and Rome Starzl; and three sisters-in-law, Winifred Kenaley, Helen Krogh and Lois Dodge.
